Invitation: Launch of The Hague’s Democracy Drinks
We are excited to announce that Democracy Drinks are coming to The Hague!
Also held in cities including Washington DC, Berlin and Brussels, Democracy Drinks are a monthly informal networking event bringing together fellow thinkers, advocates, organizers and enthusiasts in The Hague’s pro-democracy space. Together, we will enjoy an evening of casual conversation, inspiration, collaboration and networking.
The Hague’s Democracy Drinks are organized by the Netherlands Helsinki Committee (NHC) and the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD).
What to expect
After some short welcoming remarks by the hosts, the evening will be all about making new contacts and catching up with people you know; testing ideas and planning new common initiatives; and finding moral support and inspiration. We are happy that Alice Stollmeyer, director of Defend Democracy and the initiator of the Democracy Drinks networks, will be joining us to kick off the first event in our city.
The inaugural Democracy Drinks will take place on Friday 3 September, from 1600-1800, at the Nutshuis gardens. Feel free to invite friends and colleagues working on or interested in defending values like democracy, rule of law and human rights. The Hague Democracy Drinks is bringing us together – drinks and conversations are up to you.
Precautions will be taken in line with the RIVM’s latest COVID-19 guidelines. The event space has been adapted to ensure your safety and only a limited number of spots will be available.

We are looking forward to a very special first edition of The Hague’s Democracy Drinks. See you there!
