OSCE ODIHR Human Dimension Implementation Meeting
As in previous years the Netherlands Helsinki Committee will participate in the OSCE ODIHR Human Dimension Implementation Meeting (HDIM) to be held in Warsaw, 24 September – 5 October 2012. The NHC will be active threefold.
Within the framework of a project on human rights monitoring and advocacy for Central Asia a side event will be organized on 25 September in cooperation with local and international organisations to discuss the latest developments on freedom of expression, religion and association and assembly; a number of submissions will also be made as part of the formal HDIM agenda, on Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan as well as Uzbekistan.
The second focus of the NHC is advocacy towards OSCE reform; in the framework of the Civic Solidarity Platform recommendations on changes to the OSCE Human Dimension procedures have been formulated. The Platform is also organizing a side event looking forward to the Ukrainian chairmanship of the OSCE in 2013.
A third area of attention is the implementation of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights. The NHC will take part in a side event orgainzed by the Polish Helsinki Foundation on Human Rights on 3 October.
