Human Rights Defender Rasul Jafarov Acquitted of All Charges by Azerbaijan Supreme Court

Rasul Jafarov was acquitted today of all charges and restored of all his rights. In 2016, the Azerbaijani Supreme Court found human rights defender Jafarov guilty of conducting illegal business, abuse of office and tax evasion. Following a ruling by the European Court of Human Rights that Jafarov’s conviction was unlawful, the Supreme Court acquitted him today, 23 April 2020.
